PUNCH x Brussels Short Film Festival (BSFF)
Thursday 19 February 2026
from 5.00 pm
On Thursday 19 February, a new edition of PUNCH takes place at De Pont Museum, in collaboration with the Brussels Short Film Festival (BSFF). During this evening, BSFF presents a film programme featuring four short films that resonate thematically with the exhibition of Tino Sehgal.
The selected films differ greatly in form and tone, yet engage with themes that are also central to Sehgal’s practice: communication beyond language, the role of myth and imagination, care and reciprocity, and the questioning of fixed roles and spaces. Together, they form a layered programme that invites looking, listening and reflection.
The film programme starts at 6.30 pm and runs until approximately 8.15 pm.
Sisters
Daphne Lucker, Netherlands, 15 min., 2018
Three sisters grow up in a broken home. They are at each other’s mercy and survive as long as they are together. But is their loving connection strong enough to endure their gloomy surroundings?
Beyond Is the Day
Damien Kocur, Poland, 26 min., 2020
Paweł is a single man who works on a small river ferry. Day by day he keeps doing the same things until he meets Mohammad, an illegal immigrant. Paweł decides to help him. Finally, there is someone he can talk to.
Nothing Holier Than a Dolphin
Isabella Margara, Greece, 17 min., 2022
Two fishermen find a Dolphin accidentally caught in their nets. The Dolphin, on its turn, finds a fisherman drowning in the water and tries to save him. In this small village on the Mediterranean, an ancient myth unexpectedly comes to life.
Portrait of a Disappearing Woman
Nelson Polfliet, Belgium, 20 min. 34 sec., 2023
Sabine, a tired fishmonger, leaves her shop to venture into the Musée des Beaux-Arts. The audioguide offers her unexpected renewal, reviving her spirits lost in routine.
With this programme, the Brussels Short Film Festival presents four works that each, in their own way, offer a new perspective on Tino Sehgal’s exhibition. The films reinterpret themes such as encounter, attention, myth-making and the desacralisation of the museum space. While autonomous works in themselves, together they enter into a dialogue with Sehgal’s exhibition, questioning it from a cinematic perspective.
A short discussion will take place after the screenings.
