Melvin Moti

1977, lives and works in Rotterdam

Melvin Moti (b. 1977, Rotterdam) studied at the Fontys School of Fine Arts in Tilburg. He continued his studies in Amsterdam at De Ateliers (1999–2001). In 2006 he won the Charlotte Köhler Prize, and in 2015 the ABN AMRO Art Prize—the jury panel described him as ‘One of the most original and talented Dutch artists of his generation.’ Moti has previously had solo exhibitions at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (2005); Wiels, Brussels (2010); the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (2014); the Center for Contemporary Art, Vilnius (2014); EMPAC, New York (2014); and Museum Art Sonje, Seoul (2017). Melvin Moti also participated in the central group exhibition The Encyclopedic Palace at the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013, and in the 16th Istanbul Biennial “The Seventh Continent” in 2019.
