Re-dit-en-un-in-a-learning

video

2020.LP.01

This video picks up where DIT LEARN (2017) leaves off. Prouvost takes us along on a hypnotising voyage in which she refreshes our memory of the vocabulary she has taught us. A snail means ‘slow down’, a mandarin orange means ‘love’ and a cracked egg stands for ‘you are late’. ‘You know this’, intones the voice-over. This video was created during the COVID pandemic, a period in which many of us became alienated from ourselves and the world around us. Prouvost wants to restore those relationships. Relearning, unlearning and learning to connect with what you have forgotten that you once knew. With close-ups that elicit a visceral physical response, such as liquid honey, slimy snail trails and bare feet on gravel, the artist immerses us in a familiar world that we haven’t seen this way in quite some time.
