The Black Star series shows the view from the Standard Hotel in New York which looks across the new Whitney Museum of American Art towards Ground Zero. The title comes from the sculpture by Frank Stella placed on the museum’s sculpture court. Taken over a 24-hour period, the intense detail and coloration comes from a process known as stitching which involves taking several separate photographs and joining the digital files to make the final print.
